Get to Know: Danielle Wyerman

September 29, 2021

Events Assistant Danielle Wyerman definitely had an interesting first year at UR. She moved to Richmond from northern Virginia and started work in January 2020, right before the pandemic brought most gatherings to a screeching halt. She helps the Events Office plan and execute retirement receptions and Commencement. But you’re most likely to find her in Cannon Memorial Chapel, where she manages weddings and memorial services at the columbarium.

“I love being there for special moments, and making someone’s day as meaningful as possible,” Danielle said. “It’s very cool that I get to witness people starting their lives together. I also enjoy getting to work with so many different people in various areas across campus. But the Chapel is my favorite event space because of its serenity and beauty.”

Danielle advises all Spiders to take a moment to pop in Cannon Memorial Chapel, where she’s often treated to impromptu “concerts” while getting her work done. That’s just one benefit of working in a higher education setting. You’re also likely to find her drinking an iced coffee from 8:15 in Boatwright Memorial Library because she’s studying to get her Master’s in the MLA program at SPCS.

When off-campus, Danielle said she’s still exploring Richmond and she can’t wait to have a “normal, non-pandemic year.” She loves hiking, going to beach (anything outdoors, really), and checking out Richmond’s impressive restaurant scene. One of her favorites is Can Can Brasserie in Carytown and we agree…she’s got great taste!
